Why are “Motivational Monday” posts important?
I’m sure that we can agree that Monday is probably one of the toughest days of the week. If you are person that works 9-5, (or 1-9, 11-7, 3-11, you still feel me) your Monday mood normally starts around 6:00 pm local time on a Sunday.
Well, I used to feel like that, and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
You find reasons to get out of bed. You know the reasons: rent/mortgage, lights, food, car note, and weekend trips to the mall.
This new journey has challenged me in so many ways. Every day I find myself asking the question, “what motivates you, RJ?”

This question is especially important on a Monday morning. When you don’t feel like getting up, and you need a few words of encouragement. I’m awake at 5 am every morning reading over my post before they are blasted in the atmosphere for you to receive it before the sun goes down.
I’m not doing these post for me. I’m doing them for you. I have learned that someone can learn from your mistakes, and celebrate your triumph. It’s okay to admit when you’re wrong, and stand up when you’re right.
Your strength is your own knowledge.
I celebrated a birthday on Wednesday, and I know that God has me in this position to be a light for others. I struggle with promoting myself. I struggle with budgeting at times. I struggle with letting go of hurt. I’m human.
Within the last two weeks I decided to let those three things motivate me. I’ve been present (daily) on all of my social media platforms, the Alleykats book has been added to the inventory of two more book stores, and I’m at peace with not allowing some people back into my life.
If I want this journey to go to the next level I have to be proactive in my purpose while enjoying my passion. Some days it’s not easy to find that motivation. If you need some motivation in the morning, remember that you are breathing and in your right mind. No one can do you better than YOU!
What’s motivating you in this season?
XOXO,
R.J.
